Choosing the right binoculars for your filed work is very important. You just can’t simply walk through a store and pick up the first set of binoculars that captured your attention. Before you buy a binocular, you should assess you needs first so that you will be able to determine which set of binoculars is suitable for you. If you are planning to buy compact binoculars, you should be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of compact binoculars so that you will end up regretting your choice.
Advantages of Compact Binoculars
The most obvious advantage of compact binoculars is that is very portable. Compared to a regular binocular which could be a big heavy; compact binoculars are a lot lighter and handy. If you do not feel like carrying a lot heavy loads, you might as well get one of those compact binoculars. When selecting compact binoculars, you should also pay attention to their weights as well as their features. If you really want to lessen the weight of your backpack, you should select smaller binoculars, which are really light. Note that the difference between carrying a 12 ounce binocular and an 18 ounce binocular would become very noticeable towards the end of the day when your backpack begins to weight like a ton of rocks on your back.
Disadvantages of Compact Binoculars
Although compact binoculars are very handy, they can be very difficult to use in the field. First, compact binoculars are so lightweight that you may find it difficult to hold your hand steadily. Smaller objects tend to be more sensitive to movements so if your hands are inherently shaky, the images that you may get on your compact binoculars might turn out to be a bit hazy.
The second disadvantage of compact binoculars is that since they are so small, you might find it difficult to adjust the image setter. Note that the smallest compact binoculars may be just as big the palm of an average adult persons hand. Now, if you happen to one a big person, the compact binoculars may not really be a good idea for you.
